The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), in collaboration with various partners is organising the Caribbean and Pacific Agri-Food Forum from 02 – 06 November 2015 in Bridgetown, Barbados.

The purpose of this forum is to bring together diverse actors from the Caribbean and Pacific, who are part of the agri-food system, to engage in collective actions that can contribute to the transformative efforts of agriculture and the rural milieu.

The forum will be implemented over five days. It consists of 12 workshops that will run as parallel sessions during the first three days and an Agri-business Forum during the last two days. In addition, learning journeys, business networking and side events on specific topics will also take place before, during and after the forum.

Social reporting for the Caribbean and Pacific Agri-Food Forum

To raise awareness on the event, engage on-site participants and reach out to a wider audience remotely, CTA would like to support the participation of some young social reporters for the online coverage of the event.

The social reporting team will be composed of 2 sub-teams; on-site social reporters and online social reporters.

On-site social reporters

13 social reporters will be selected to participate in a two-days’ training on the use of digital media for social reporting. A significant part of the training will be focused on the production of multimedia content to promote the agribusiness case studies presented at the forum. Overall, the training will provide an opportunity for the reporters to get hands-on experience, ask questions and practice.

At the end of the forum, the social reporters will be awarded a certificate. Out of the 13 youths, 10 will be from the Caribbean region, and 3 will be from Barbados, the host country.

From the 13 on-site social reporters, up to 3 might be selected for a consultancy in the framework of which they will fully document some multimedia agribusiness case studies.

Online social reporters

Other interested social media enthusiasts who are not from the Caribbean region, but have an interest in social reporting, will have the opportunity to be part of the larger social reporting team that will participate and contribute remotely (online) to the outreach of the event.

Social reporting for the Caribbean and Pacific Agri-Food Forum is a voluntary task. However, CTA will be covering the cost of travel, accommodation, food and daily subsistence allowances for the 13 selected on-site social reporters. This opportunity forms part of CTA and the ARDYIS Project’s strategy to support the youth by involving them in its activities and building their capacity.
