Winners of the 2016 Pitch AgriHack contest announced!Pitch AgriHack, which aims to accelerate youth-led e-agriculture entrepreneurship for improved livelihoods and food security, unveiled the winners of the 2016 pitching event. The announcement was made during an award ceremony in Nairobi, Kenya, on 24 November 2016. The competition was hotly contested with 25 finalists, selected out of 152 e-agriculture startups from across Africa and the Caribbean. Before the announcement of winners, finalists benefited from a training boot camp on 22 November at Ihub Nairobi, focused on offering successful business services in e-agriculture. The finalists were also coached on how to pitch effectively. On 23 November, they presented their services publicly before a jury and an audience composed of agriculture and ICT experts and institutions, including venture capitals.

More ECOWAS youth trained on agricultural entrepreneurship21 September 2011, Porto Novo, Benin. Seventy-one youths have completed a month-long training on various aspects of agricultural production at the Songhai Centre in Porto Novo, the political capital of Benin, as part of an ECOWAS capacity building programme to encourage and empower Community youth for self employment. The training was organized by the Ouagadougou-based ECOWAS Youth and Sports Development Centre, in collaboration with the Songhai Centre, one of the regional centres of excellence recognized by ECOWAS for youth development.

Deadline extended to 25 September 2011 for North Africa
The New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD) Agency and the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA) have joined forces in celebrating NEPAD’s 10th Anniversary. It is within this context of reflecting over the advancement of the African development agenda, that the two institutions are jointly organising an essay competition under the theme; “Looking at ICTs and entrepreneurship in agriculture and rural development through the eyes of women and the youth”.
