What is ARDYIS?

Its key activities include the Youth in Agriculture Blog Competition (YoBloCo Awards) and the AgriHack Talent initiative.

The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA), in collaboration with FARA, Yam-Pukri, CAFAN, AYF, ANAFE and PAFPNET, is organizing an essay writing contest on “Youth and ICTs in Agriculture and Rural Development”, aimed at identifying innovative solutions on challenges faced by youth in agriculture and rural areas using Information and Communication Technologies.

ARDYIS Project objectives

The project purpose is to raise youth awareness and capacity on agricultural and rural development issues in ACP countries through ICTs.

More specifically, it:

  • strengthens the capacities of the young in ACP countries on Web 2.0 and ICTs for development, particularly in the agricultural and rural sector.
  • contributes to sensitizing youth on the issues of agriculture and rural development in ACP countries.

The feeble involvement of youth in the key agriculture sector, on the one hand, and the existence new opportunities offered by ICTs to promote agriculture, rural development and improve livelihoods for youth, on the second hand, are the key elements at the basis of the launch of this initiative.
