What is ARDYIS?

ARDYIS is a framework of actions which aims to raise the capacity and opportunities of youth in agriculture through ICTs in ACP countries (Africa, Caribbean and Pacific).

Its key activities include the Youth in Agriculture Blog Competition (YoBloCo Awards) and the AgriHack Talent initiative.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is very often perceived as a male-dominated field. But CTA's experience through the Agriculture, Rural Development and Youth in the Information Society (ARDYIS) project, has shown quite a different picture.

Since its launch in 2010, the ARDYIS project by CTA has been supporting youth in agriculture and ICT from African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries.

CTA is collaborating with the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) on the production the AGRA Africa Agriculture Status Report 2015, which will focus on “Youth in Agriculture”. In this regard, CTA attended a write-shop organised by AGRA in Nairobi, Kenya from 26-27 March 2015.

We are very pleased to announce that CTA’s ARDYIS (Agriculture, Rural Development and Youth in the Information Society) programme has been nominated for the WSIS Project Prizes in the category 13 (e-agriculture)!
