Interview with Riten Chand Gosai from Fiji (Pacific), finalist Ardyis contest

Annie Chéneau-Loquay, présidente du jury du concours de rédaction ARDYIS du CTA, parle du concours à la cérémonie d'ouverture de la Semaine CTA/NPCA en Afrique du Sud.

Annie Loquay Chéneau est directrice de recherche au CNRS et responsable de l’Observatoire Africa’NTI (projet de recherche sur les modes d'insertion, les usages et les impacts des technologies de la communication en Afrique).

« Youth finding solutions to challenges in agriculture and rural development using ICTs! »

This was the main theme of essay contest launched within the framework of the ARDYIS (Agriculture, Rural Development and Youth in the Information Society) project implemented by CTA (Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU), in collaboration with various partners (FARA, Yam-Pukri, ANAFE, CAFAN, AYF, PAFPnet/SPC). About 180 youth (35% of women) from 33 ACP countries (Africa, Caribbean and Pacific) submitted their analysis and proposals. Participants are students enrolled in communication, economics, data computing, agricultural or other studies, young farmers, young professionals in various sectors.

The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA), in collaboration with FARA, Yam-Pukri, CAFAN, AYF, ANAFE, PAFPNET, has recently launched an essay writing contest on “Youth and ICTs in Agriculture and Rural Development”. The deadline to apply is extended to 15 August 2010. The essay contest is open to young people aged 18 - 25 years old, from urban or rural areas of Africa, Caribbean and the Pacific countries.
