The
Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), in collaboration with the Caribbean Farmers Network (CAFAN) is organizing a Web 2.0 Training and Exchange Workshop on 27 - 31 July 2013. The training, focused on blogging, will be held in the framework of the upcoming launch of the Second Edition of the Youth in Agriculture Blog Competition (YoBloCo Awards) organized by the ARDYIS project.

book cover ardyis The new booklet published by the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA ACP-EU) features 20 young people and three organizations, that have been involved in the CTA youth project called ARDYIS (Agriculture Rural Development and Youth in the Information Society).

In addition to portraying authors and highlighting their perspectives on youth involvement in agriculture using ICTs, the document presents summaries of best essays submitted for the contest «Youth finding solutions to challenges in agriculture and rural development using ICTs!», organised in 2010; it also presents the results of the Youth in Agriculture Blog Competition (YoBloCo Awards) completed in 2012.

On the occasion of the 2012 Conference of the African Chapter of the International Association of Agricultural Information Specialists (IAALD) the ARDYIS project organized a series of activities, which took place from 20 to 23 May in Johannesburg, South Africa.

On the last day of the IAALD conference, the second meeting of the ARDYIS Advisory Committee has also taken place. The meeting, celebrating the second anniversary of the ARDYIS project, was held to review the past activities of the project and discussing the perspectives for the future.

Nawsheen Hosenally, 1st prize of the YoBloCo Awards, individual category

Premier prix des « YoBloCo Awards », la jeune blogueuse plaide pour que la jeunesse se réconcilie avec l’agriculture.

«C’est un grand honneur pour moi d’avoir été choisie  parmi les 69 participants au concours individuel. » C’est à Johannesburg que Nawsheen Hosenally a récupéré son prix le mois dernier. Le Youth in Agriculture Blog Competition (YoBloCo), organisé par le Centre Technique de coopération agricole et rurale (CTA), récompense les meilleurs blogs traitant de l’engagement des jeunes dans l’agriculture. Oeuvrant dans le cadre des accords de Cotonou entre pays de l’ACP (Afrique-Caraïbes-Pacifi que) et de l’Union européenne, le CTA met un accent particulier sur l’utilisation des technologies de l’information et de la communication pour relever les défis agricoles contemporains.

Mr Mwangi: He shares his farm experience with other youth through his blog Youth Agropreneur. Daniel Sitole Antony Kahonge Mwangi, 24, is not just keen on farming. He is also adept at blogging about the best farming methods. And thanks to his creativity, he has not only transformed the productivity of his family’s 15-acre land but also made an impact in Africa, a contribution that has won him 800 euros besides his ranking as one of the best youthful bloggers on agriculture in Africa.

The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA) has just announced the winners of the first edition of the Youth in Agriculture Blog Competition (YoBloCo Awards).

Winners in the institutional category will receive each 3,000 Euros, while individual winners will receive up to 1,500 Euros. In addition, winners and runners-up selected (14 individuals and organizations) will attend an international conference, their blogs will be promoted and they will have the opportunity to be involved in other activities.

We are pleased to announce the names of the 15 finalists for the YoBloCo Awards – individual category, resulting from the voting process that took place from 5 to 31 December 2011. During this period, for the individual category, we received a total of 2214 votes, from 2080 people (voting for two blogs was possible) and more than 600 comments for the institutional category. This is a great outcome, and we would like to thank voters and everyone again for your support and your interest in this initiative.
